I Am

"I AM" are two very small but very important words. They are so powerful, in fact, that they are even a name of God in the Bible. "I Am"

But we throw these little words around all the time with no regard. And we usually even use them in a self depreciating way.

“I am lazy. I am selfish. I am impatient. I am a terrible mom.”

All LIES!

I know those things are not actually true about you or about me because they are not true about God. You are using the name of the Lord in vain when you use these meaningful words in that way.

You ARE a Good Mom. You just are. You are a good person. God made you in his likeness and He Is Good. So you are Good. You just are.

It doesn't matter what you do, say, don't do, don't say, the tone you say it in, the volume you scream in, you still ARE good.

We are all good. And we all do bad things. Doesn't make us bad. Makes us human. And that is the discomfort we feel in this mortality. The dissonance between who we really are and the mortal conditions we've been put in to help sculpt us into the best versions of ourselves.

Just like Michelangelo's 'David' was in the marble block, we just need to chip away at our mortal frailties and heal our untrue thoughts through the Atonement of Jesus Christ in order to believe the truth about who we are.

Then we can live into that truth.

The truth that I AM a Good Mom.

Today.

No matter what

and even if

and especially when.

I am Love.

Who are you?
