Don’t Ride the Roller Coaster!

Roller Coasters are awesome and fun but imagine riding one all day every day and even most nights! Our nervous systems would not be able to handle that! And that is why we frequently think during the day “I can’t handle this” or “I can’t stand this!” What does it mean to “handle” or “stand” something exactly?

We are feeling all sorts of emotions all the time. And maybe even more so with all these little kids running around us all day. We have thousands of thoughts that cause thousands of emotions which are chemical vibrations in the body. Our bodies are made to “handle” these vibrations so they are usually not not a big deal but sometimes we pile so many emotions into our bodies without processing them that it does overwhelm our bodies! 😜💕🤣😇😇😭😭😣🥵😛🥺🤗😤🥶🥶🤐😵🤥🥱🤤😴🙄🙄🙄🙄🤥🤗😱🤯🤬😤😕🥳😞🤪😘🥰😴🥱😵🤐😪🤮🥰😘👍🏻😩🎶👀🙈😀👍✌🏻😉😌😀🎶😋💁😄😩😁💕💕😩😩😩😩😔😭😩😁😁😉😩 (kids love emojis! Maybe that’s why they love “causing” us all the feels also!) ((thanks kids for your very helpful visual contribution to this blog ;)

Now, first let me take an aside to clarify and solidify that our kids do not actually cause our emotions! (Shhh 🤫 That is one of my top 4 secrets 😉 ) Our feelings come from OUR thoughts. So, the kid spills his milk all over the freshly mopped floor and you feel frustrated. Not because of what he did! Because of a sneaky little thought that crossed your mind between the spill and the frustration. Probably something like “but I JUST washed this floor!” and that thought is what causes you to feel the frustration.

So anyway, lots of thoughts cause lots of feelings and when we don’t process the feelings through and let the message they contain be heard, they scream even louder- yes, like a toddler! So we’re dealing with toddlers externally and internally. Recipe for exhaustion!

On the fb live posted above, I share some tips on how to not “ride the roller coaster” and as always, if you’d like personalized help with that in your specific situations, sign up for a free consult and I’ll walk you through how to actually apply this so your nervous system can get a break!
